What We Do

9-year-old Doniqua was devastated when she learnt that her mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. She did not have a father. She lived with her grandmother but her single mother was the primary caregiver for her family. Unfortunately, her mom needed surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, and at times struggled with side effects. Doniqua was becoming more withdrawn and her grades at school started falling as she struggled to deal with her mother being ill and in the hospital.

We were grateful to hear about Doniqua through a social worker friend of the mother of a CanDoAble volunteer. We were able to give Doniqua several remote tutoring options. Doniqua was grateful to have help and to also have a friend on weekends who could help with her homework. She felt much better about going in to school with her homework completed and she felt more confident and able to participate actively in class again.

Home school tutor camp is an immersive learning experience that provides tutoring and homework help on weekends for kids grades 4-8. We would love to have more volunteers. Based on learning needs, we match high-school-age tutors with the kids. Please submit a preliminary information form so we may find the best match for you.

Just submit the online form to enroll or volunteer to teach our lessons. Our tutoring hours are:

Saturday: 9 am -12noon

Sunday: 9am- 3 pm
